Which is better vr6 and g60

Is there any other vw engine, of any era, capable to achieve that? It is mentioned that the total system, chains, guides, e. This is much more difficult than the regular service of a glader, And looks as a resistive problem even for the 3. Lawrence, a user , says: "I was under the impression that timing chains aren't really supposed to break.

In my case I have a vw jetta vr6, and my first motor threw a rod and broke the oil pan. The second motor's timing chain broke and bent all the valves and usually this is fatal to the entire block and head of the engine".

At only After a major broken timing chain event, the valves look like this. But there are many more The three g-lader generations. Now let's summing up. The g60 has a belt to drive the camshaft. The vr6 has a chain supposed to be stronger, and much noisier, coming from the 70's.

The g60 never brakes it's belt, changing it at the normal intervals, Now, as we have see, the vr6 destroys a lot of it's internals when the valves driving system brakes. Factoid 3: VR6 is an interference engine. As for the g60, let's make an hypothesis: the g60 snaps it's belt. What will happen to it? The answer is: nothing! And thats coming from me Vr's sound alright, but then so can G's Ive a 2. There's a few good vids on youtube Neil. Riley , Jan 24, They should never have made the corrado with anything other than the VR in it.

I think ill just have to test both at some point. I wouldn't go down the 20vt route, personally not a big fan and find old school engines far more entertaining and better sounding. The G60 charger isn't going to go pop every time you turn the key, it's how you drive it that makes it goes pop. If you do go looking for a G60, try and find a standard.

Not one with extra gauges and wot nots fitted, unless of course that's what your after. I always let my engines warm up, if the opportunity comes along to test drive a g60 then i'll take it the test drive, not necessarily the car ha ha. I have a vr6 but if I were buying again I think I would seriously consider the g60 instead. That may be partly due to having "done" the vr6 thing but mainly due to the rarity of the g Speed really isn't a deciding factor for me now. They are all old, slower cars, compared to modern family hatches now anyway.

But rarity can't be underestimated. You can post now and register later. If you have an account, sign in now to post with your account. Note: Your post will require moderator approval before it will be visible.

Well, I could write a lot, but you're best best is to go to www. If you sign up you an browse the 'For Sale' section too In summary though: On paper the VR6 is quicker as it can hit 60mph in second which the G60 can't with a standard gearbox.

It's a more relaxed car to drive, and makes a good 'mini-GT' but the handling is not as sharp due to the extra weight up front. The G60 is a sharper and more raw experience, and if tuned can match the VR6's output relatively easily at the expense of charger longevity.

The charger can need re-building every so often depending on the state of tune. If I were to buy another, I'd go for the G Driver 34 posts months. I remember someone saying that the superchargers regularly need a rebuild and are expensive?

I would go for the VR6 purely for the sound! I wouldn't bother going for the storm has a pointless premium imho. A friend of mine had a nicely modded G60 and I really like it.
