One of the best weapons-based mods in Skyrim, this oldie still gets a lot of love from the community. It injects a ton of lore-friendly weapons into the game that helps expand the basic arsenal in a big way. The result is a choice of weapons that feels far more exotic, without breaking immersion in the process. There are a grand total of weapons added into the game.
They can be purchased at vendors, looted in dungeons and off of corpses, and crafted at a forge. When facing down Skyrim's most difficult bosses and enemies, it's helpful to have some stylish weapons on hand. This mod takes a fairly simple approach to Skyrim's existing weapons by changing up their meshes so they look better. The results vary from subtle to drastic, but the differences go a long way to cleaning up some of the more ugly or bland weapons in the game. It's also compatible with mods that retexture the base game's weaponry, which is good news when it comes to compatibility.
Those who don't like to mod Skyrim too drastically will find this one to their liking, as it merely enhances what's already there. Iron weapons are among the first that players will encounter when they start a new adventure, so it's important that they look their best. Iron Things is designed for that purpose - to replace the default meshes and textures for iron swords, daggers, axes, shields, and bows.
The difference is staggering, thanks to details that breathe new life into some of the most standard weapons in the game. Texture work is gorgeous, and the mesh work is finely detailed. Even for those who don't intend to lug iron weapons around, this mod will guarantee that any spotted in-world will look their best.
Skyforged weapons are supposed to look amazing, but that's clearly not the case. Thankfully, this mod helps fix that problem by making each weapon look iconic, heroic, and powerful. The texture work is utterly superb, and the details in the guards are especially noteworthy. If you choose to bash opponents instead of slashing, there's a chance you can temporarily knock down an enemy.
There is a small chance they will be immobilized, giving you a slight advantage in battle. It's easily one of the best one-handed swords in Skyrim. As with many of Bethesda's role-playing games, there's a limit to how much you can carry. Though fast travel is a part of Skyrim, role-players may decide to ignore this feature, but luckily, there are enchanted weapons that are powerful, yet lightweight. It is a unique sword that grows as it's used in battle and it strikes with up to 16 base damage and absorbs 15 points of Stamina.
It has a weight of only 3, which means you'll have plenty of room to gather all of that loot. Several legacy weapons have appeared throughout the Elder Scrolls series. The Volendrung is no exception. This two-handed melee weapon originally belonged to the Rourken clan, but it can now be the Dragonborn's if they choose to work for the Daedric Prince Malacath.
Not only does it attack opponents with 25 base damage, but it has a bonus. The Warhammer absorbs 5 points of stamina, making sure you have plenty of power to attack the next enemy. The Blades all wield a one-handed sword, but there are several special variants. Harkon's Sword is a unique weapon uncovered in the Dawnguard DLC and it doesn't have much use unless you've become a vampire. For vampires, this sword absorbs 15 points of Health, Magicka, and Stamina, and its power will increase by upgrading it with a steel ingot.
The only downside is that this sword must be charged regularly. Molag Bal is one of the most sinister Daedric Princes since he loves to create chaos and hurt innocent people. If your Dragonborn believes in Molag Bal's weapon, you can become the Prince's champion.
After collecting the soul of Logrolf the Willful in Boethiah, Molag Bal awards the Dragonborn with a mace named after the prince.
It is one of the best one-handed maces in Skyrim that deals 25 damage to both Stamina and Magica, and if the target is defeated within three seconds, it will immediately fill a soul gem. The Chillrend is easily among the best swords in Skyrim. The blade has the appearance of ice and emits an icy smoke, which is fitting for the cold region of Skyrim. The Chillrend is leveled, so its power depends on the Dragonborn.
The blade is best against enemies with a weakness to ice, and it deals an additional 30 points of Frost Damage. There's also a chance it will immobilize its target for two seconds. Daggers are lightweight, but some may pick other weapons due to their low damage. Mehrunes' Razor is no different, with its base damage of 11, but what makes this dagger unique is that it can defeat an enemy with a single blow.
Mehrunes' Razor has a 1. Long-time Elder Scrolls fans may recognize this blade from previous games as it's appeared in every game since Daggerfall. Though there are no Dwarves within Skyrim, there are plenty of Dwemer artifacts. Within Arkngthamz, Katria will point out the area where she was defeated, and the only proof she was there is by her bow, the Zephyr. The Dragonborn can obtain this bow, and though the base damage isn't high, it wields a helpful enchantment.
This means you can deal more attacks for a higher rate of damage. This ancient Daedric weapon is rather useful as it rapidly drains the stamina of enemies and restores the stamina of its user. To retrieve this formidable weapon, the Dragonborn must complete the side quest "The Cursed Tribe. To start this, you must head to the Orc stronghold Largashbur near Riften, where you will find that the residents of this stronghold are seemingly under some sort of curse.
This can be a rather strenuous quest, as it opens with the Dragonborn needing to retrieve some Troll Fat and a Daedra Heart the latter of which is not a common item at all.
From here, you must team up with the Stronghold's chief to defeat a giant, after which the chief will betray you, meaning you must defeat him as well.
Fortunately, the payoff of this long quest is Volendrung, which is gifted to the Dragonborn by the Daedric Prince Malacath as thanks for helping redeem the stronghold. As its name suggests, the Steel Battleaxe of Fiery Souls is enchanted with both fire damage and soul trap, making it a truly formidable weapon that makes it easy to renew its enchantment.
In order to retrieve this weapon, you must enter Ironbind Barrow, southwest of Winterhold. Upon entering the cave or before you enter if you talk to the two people outside of the cave , the side quest "Coming of Age" will begin, which will lead you to Warlord Gathrik in the depths of the Barrow. Rather than being a weapon used by Warlord Gathrik, the Steel Battleaxe of Fiery Souls is actually hidden behind this tyrant's throne, making it a weapon that most players overlook.
Unfortunately, one of the two NPCs who journeys through the cavern with you, Salma, may pick up this weapon if she is disarmed in battle, which makes retrieving it a bit more difficult. While Miraak's Sword isn't necessarily hidden, as it is the main weapon used by the primary antagonist of the Dragonborn DLC, it is certainly a weapon that a number of players overlook.
Upon completion of the final boss of the main Dragonborn quest, Miraak, you will receive the opportunity to loot his body. While most people go directly for his intimidating mask, his sword is arguably the coolest artifact that you can get your hands on. It is the second lightest one-handed sword in the entire game, in addition to having the highest base physical damage. It's enchantment also allows the user to drain the stamina of their enemies. However, the best feature about this sword is arguably how cool it looks.
The tentacles on the hilt always move, and when doing an attack, a long tentacle grows from the weapon to strike your foe, which is honestly a rather cool sight.
While this particular sword doesn't necessarily have any enchantments to make it stand out, its unique appearance is what makes retrieving this particular weapon worthwhile. It's an ancient Nordic weapon used by the legendary hero Kvenel the Tongue.
To find this fabled blade, you must enter the ancient ruins of Volunruud, which is south of Dawnstar and east of Morthal. Upon reading Heddic's Volunruud Notes, the quest "Silenced Tongues" will begin, taking you through the ruins and eventually leading you face to face with the spectral draugr of Kvenel the Tongue.
Upon defeating Kvenel the Tongue, Eduj can be recovered from his remains. Though it's not the best weapon in a fight, it certainly looks great on a weapons' rack or in a trophy case. Eduj wasn't the only weapon favored by Kvenel the Tongue during his legendary, heroic adventures. The ancient war axe Okin was another weapon that Kvenel would use. Like Okin, it doesn't necessarily have any unique enchantments or abilities, but its unique design still makes it stand out.
The process of retrieving Okin is very similar to Eduj. You must travel into Volunruud and start the "Silenced Tongues" side quest. However, unlike Eduj, you cannot find Okin by taking it off of the remains of the defeated Kvenel the Tongue. Instead, Okin will actually be dropped by Kvenel during the fight, so you will actually have to try to find it dropped on the ground somewhere near his remains.
Because of this, many people forget to grab this weapon, separating Eduj and Okin for the first time in centuries. Not only does it have a cool appearance, but its enchantment is arguably what makes it stand out. This is one of those rare, useful weapons that allows its user to drain and absorb the health of their enemies, which is a genuinely helpful ability to have. To retrieve this weapon, enter Folgunthur near Solitude. This location is an important location in the side quest "Forbidden Legend," which should begin upon entering the ruins.
The quest will lead you through the ruins to Mikrul Gauldurson, who you can loot the Gauldur Blackblade off of after defeating him. Unlike most unique weapons in the game, the Gauldur Blackblade is able to be disenchanted in order to enchant other weapons with the same "absorb health" abilities. This is certainly a great perk, as the Gauldur Blackblade may feel under-powered if you retrieved it at a low level.
Giving its enchantment to a different weapon will allow you to fully utilize its helpful abilities. This item is both cleverly well hidden and a fun Easter Egg. It's a regular looking pickaxe, with enchantments to do shock damage and to raise the user's Smithing level by 5, which is honestly pretty useful. This item is widely believed to be a reference to Minecraft creator Markus Persson, who is nicknamed "Notch.
In order to retrieve this unique artifact, you must climb to the peak of the Throat of the World, the largest mountain in the game where the Greybeards reside. The best way to get to the peak is to travel to Parthunaax's region near the top of the mountain, and just climb from there.
The Notched Pickaxe should be stuck inside a rock just under the actual peak of the mountain.
